Championing siblings of people with support needs worldwide since 1990
Welcome to the home of Sibshops™, the original recreational program for siblings of children with support needs. Our education, training, and publications elevate sibling voices and strengthen families.
Sibshops are fun, high‑energy spaces for siblings to learn, connect, and feel seen.
Sibling Support Project Home of Sibshops
Founded in 1990, the Sibling Support Project is the first national program dedicated to recognizing, promoting and addressing the life-long and ever-changing concerns of millions of siblings of people with developmental, health, and mental health concerns.
We are a proud partner of the Sibling Leadership Network.
Our work spans books and publications, online communities for teen and adult siblings, and workshops and training. We are best known for helping local communities start Sibshops—lively peer support groups for school-age brothers and sisters of kids with disabilities and health concerns.
It is an honor to serve such a deserving population. We hope you’ll explore our website and learn more about what we do.
We are grateful for the support provided by The George A. and Marion M. Wilson Foundation.

A place for siblings to meet and play
Sibshops

Sibshops provide school-age siblings of children with developmental, health and mental health concerns opportunities for information, peer support, and fun. Created by Don Meyer, founder of the Sibling Support Project, Sibshops launched in 1982 at the University of Washington and now exist across the U.S. and in 20 countries around the world. Sibshops are safe spaces where siblings can meet one another, laugh, play, discuss the ups and downs of having a sib with support needs, and celebrate their own unique interests and strengths.
